Obituary: Francis L. Mitchell
Longtime Millbury Resident, 89
MILLBURY, MA -- Francis L. Mitchell, 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Millbury and a communicant of St. Brigid Church. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the service, he returned home and began a long career as a machinist for several companies in the area, including Heald Machine and George Meyer.
Mitchell was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Smith) Mitchell, in 2021. He is survived by his son, Francis J. Mitchell and his wife, Mary, of Northbridge; and his daughter, Mary Ellen Mitchell of Millbury. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joseph, James, and Jennifer Mitchell; his great-grandchildren, Emma and Olivia Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from the Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will follow in St. Brigid Cemetery, Millbury.
